About the Programme
The Singapore Institute of Directors (SID) in collaboration with the Institute of Directors UK (IoD) is pleased to launch the Accelerated Certificate in Company Direction Programme in Singapore. This marks IoD’s inaugural collaboration with an Asian director institute to bring world-class board education closer to directors based in the region. This programme offers direct progression to the Diploma in Company Direction – the next stage of the Chartered Director pathway.
Drawing on the deep expertise and extensive networks of both director institutes, this immersive programme goes beyond theory. It offers a practical and unique curriculum that addresses real-world challenges and strategic opportunities facing today’s global board leaders.
This six-day in-person residential programme includes four modules:
Participants who complete the programme will be eligible to:
Take the SID Accreditation Exam with the registration fee waived (worth S$272.50)
Continue with the second stage of this programme to obtain a Diploma in Company Direction

Programme Experts
Simon Haslam
Professor Simon Haslam provides expert help with leadership, strategic decision making and strategy facilitation. A chartered director with over 20 years’ experience as a consultant and facilitator, he works with around 500 senior leaders and directors each year.Simon co-owns the consulting and research firm FMR Research Ltd, whose work has been cited in Westminster and Scottish Parliaments. He is also a non-executive chair of a community transport organisation.
He teaches at post-graduate level at business and management schools, including as visiting professor at the triple accredited Durham University Business School.
Rainer Pratl
Dr Rainer Pratl is a senior executive with over 20 years of international experience in finance, strategy, and governance, specialising in business development and association leadership.He has worked extensively across the private, public and not-for-profit sectors, delivering growth, transformation and innovation. With deep financial expertise and a strong focus on governance, Rainer has helped major institutions improve board effectiveness, drive member engagement and implement large-scale strategic initiatives.
