About the Programme
With board leaders in Singapore increasingly expected to navigate new growth and expansion strategies in the China market, the SJTU-SID-Emeritus Advanced Global Directors Programme has been launched to equip Singapore board directors with the insights, networks and immersion needed to navigate China’s dynamic market environment.
This Programme is a tripartite collaboration between the Singapore Institute of Directors, Shanghai Jiao Tong University and the Emeritus Institute of Management.

Programme Objectives
Purpose-built for senior board directors, the programme offers an immersive, interactive learning journey that blends global perspectives with deep regional insight.
The programme aims to:
Deepen understanding of boardroom practices and governance in both Singapore and China.
Provide strategic perspectives on geopolitics, regulatory developments and cross-border value creation.
Equip participants to navigate complex board decisions related to international expansion and China-focused opportunities.
Offer learning from leading faculty and experienced board directors through real-world case studies and boardroom discussions.
Facilitate peer exchange and networking with senior board leaders and thought leaders across Singapore and China.
Format
The programme is delivered in two phases, providing a structured pathway to deepen directors’ understanding of China’s boardroom practices and governance landscape.
Phase 1 – Singapore:
Masterclasses with leading industry and academic experts.
Discussions and networking with distinguished Singapore board leaders from major organisations such as City Development Limited.
Exploration of the future of board governance and leadership in the context of evolving Singapore-China leadership.
A site visit to Serial System, a listed Singapore company with significant investments and operations in China.
Phase 2 – Shanghai/Hangzhou:
Intensive international immersion on the Shanghai Jiao Tong University campus with sessions led by distinguished faculty.
Opportunity to learn from China-based board directors and industry leaders.
Curated site visits to leading organisations in Shanghai and Hangzhou including innovative companies such as Huawei, Ant Financial Group and Six Little Dragons.
